WHO ARE WE?
“I love those connections that make this big old world feel like a little village.” – Gina Bellman
My maternal grandmother was the keeper of the memories and the stories, the photos and the hand written family trees. I grew up listening to stories about ancestors on the Mayflower and a great great grandfather who emigrated from Scotland with money that a neighbor had gifted to him. We poured over photos from the 1800s—the stiff poses and the layers of dresses, hats and gloves—and she’d point to each person and say: “that’s your great great so-and-so”.
I’ve gone so much deeper with the stories she raised me on, and this website holds the information that began with her and has continued with me. Most of the stories she told me I’ve proved to be true, a few are still in question, but the gift of knowing where I come from, how history and experience shaped the people who came before me ultimately shaped my world view and my experience of it.
